May’s Full Moon
This coming full moon (Tuesday the 17th) is known as the Wesak or Buddha Full Moon in Eastern traditions. For the Buddhist it is the day that the birth, enlightenment and death of Buddha is celebrated. Legend has it that on the full moon in May, Gautama sat under the Bodhi tree and attained enlightenment. Today this full moon is seen as a time for all to seek deeper spiritual meaning and enlightenment.
In many New Age circles this is the most energeticly potent Full Moon since it is the time when both the Buddha and Christ (as well as the Ascended Masters) energies are most prevalent on earth. This is seen as the most powerful time of year for encouraging humanitarianism and spiritual awakening.
Astrologically the moon is in Scorpio (emotional passion) while the sun is in Taurus (earthy sensuality) and this combination is a potent one. The stars are encouraging us to look into our hearts and understand ourselves deeply so that we may attain that which we desire most.
No matter how you look at it, this weeks full moon is a very powerful one. Now is a very good time for meditations, detoxifications, journaling and self reflection. Whether you are looking to expand your spiritual understanding or tap into the powerful energies of the universe to manifest your desires, it is all about what can be awakened in your soul. The full moon occurs at 4:10 am so start planing your ritual and celebrations to start Monday evening.
